Many golfers see the week after the U.S. Open as an opportunity to take a break from the grind of the PGA Tour. Others see it as an opportunity to prove they can win there. John Daly doesn’t have to worry about the grind. Without a full PGA Tour card since 2006, the two-time major winner now relies on sponsor exemptions to play in events like this week’s Travelers Championship.

The Golf Writers Association of America has asked the PGA Tour to discipline John Daly for his actions against a Florida Times-Union reporter. Daly, angry about a story in the Times-Union on Tuesday that revealed some of the contents of his nearly 500-page PGA Tour file, asked his fans on Twitter to call and criticize the writer of the story.
